What you're getting
This is the FA's coaching-resource hub — articles, session ideas, videos, and guidance built by a national federation. The old Boot Room link now redirects here. The reason I point coaches to it is that it does not treat coaching as a bag of drills; it leans into a learning-centered view of the game, which is the framework I actually believe in. Players learn by doing, by making decisions, by getting the right amount of challenge and success.
The idea I keep taking from it
The thread I value is the emphasis on the player's experience and on realistic practice. It lines up with something I hold pretty firmly — the test of a session is whether the players walked out feeling like they gained something, win or lose, good session or messy one. Federation resources can drift into being generic, but the good FA material keeps pulling you back to the person you are coaching, not just the topic you are coaching.
How I'd use it, and its limits
For a newer coach, this is a genuinely great backbone — use the session frameworks, borrow the language, follow the learning principles. But I would still say the same thing I say about every resource: it is a starting point, not a script. Your group is your group. Take the framework, then adjust the numbers, the space, the challenge, until it fits the players in front of you and gives you the right balance of success and struggle. Too much success and it was too easy. Too much failure and it was too hard.
